Giant’s Rib Raid in Canada

Making it to the top…

I flew to Toronto, Canada with Kris to race in the Giant’s Rib Raid – an adventure run about 25 km in distance. The third team member of the QuantiGHO Queen Bees was Barb. Kris and I belong to Quantico Orienteering Club and Barb belongs to the Canadian orienteering club, GHO, thus the combined team name was born.

The area is part of the Niagara Escarpment, and we got to climb up a ski slope during one leg of the race. That was the thing I dreaded the most, besides the distance. But it was not as hard as I expected it to be, and I was still smiling when I got to the top.

The day we arrived, our hosts, Jim and Sue, took us to see some of the falls going over the escarpment. No, not Niagara Falls, but very pretty, and just my speed for sightseeing.
