Boot Camp Starts!

I signed up for a program called Boot Camp for Women. It meets at 6 AM at the nearby school. Though I am not totally out of shape, I never do anything apart from running or biking. The concentration on the “core” has been a killer.

Happy birthday, America!!

I broke my webpage for a while today – trying to learn things, but not knowing what I am doing has its pros and cons…

Trip to DVOA Land

v willows 1I drove to the Philadelphia area to participate in a series of four short orienteering races – “sprints.” They were held at two sites by DVOA. I helped with the epunching. Here I am starting the 4th sprint. Thanks to Eddie Bergeron for the photo.

It was a warm, but a very enjoyable day. I did manage to get disoriented driving to both locations.

capitol Next to arriving at my door safely after a three hour drive home, this is my favorite part of the trip – seeing the US Capitol. It looks so much bigger in person than it does in this picture. Ummm, yes, I had both hands on the wheel when I took the picture…

See you in Austin, Brooke.

hopefaithI attended a BBQ/Farewell party for Brooke tonight. I met Brooke through EX2 Adventures – we worked the finish line/timing together – she is one of the best I have worked with. Brooke is off to Austin, *TX* for graduate school. I admire her for being adventurous enough to pick up and move so far away to pursue her desire/dreams. Brooke is on the right, her mother, Faith is on the left.

Adventure Race

canoeI participated in my first adventure race with Brian K on June 18. It was held at Brandywine Creek State Park in Delaware. We started with a 2.5 mile trail run, then a 2 mile canoe, and about a 2 mile orienteering course. It was a beautiful day and we had fun. Canoing was the hardest part for me. The most frustrating part was a misplaced control. There were 17 teams and we beat 6 of them. Not too shabby for the chubbiest team.
