Crocheting a rug…

Sarah asked if I had any t-shirts to use to make a rug…and before I knew it, I was crocheting up a storm. I started this on August 4 and was finished about five weeks later. Using the big crochet hook was easy on the creaky hand. Cutting the t-shirts into strips was a bit tougher to do. I loved doing this project and hope to make another one in the future.  False start…decided that I didn’t like the white.  Liked the dark center better.

New Plant

Roger and I bought a new hibiscus yesterday. It was a bargain. We were afraid that it wasn’t gong to the color that we wanted, and we wouldn’t know until it bloomed next year. But it was in bloom this morning! A great late summer surprise, and just the color we had been looking for.

Spring Cleaning

My mother, Dorothy, came for Easter dinner. She helped me to clean out the pantry while she was here, and I did her taxes for her. A good deal for both of us…Here she is counting how many jars of gravy we have. And we had to mock some of the purchases Roger had made over the years… Our pantry is too deep, so things get shoved to the back, and then I am too lazy to figure out if I have something, so I buy it again. We threw away or gave away about 1/3 of the contents – yeah!

Snow Day

A nice Sunday snowfall. It was supposed to start early yesterday but didn’t roll in until about 5 PM. Tried to get a good picture of a cardinal, but it isn’t close enough. I will have to investigate telephoto lenses again…

Peach Pie

peach_piePie making is something I am still trying to master after many years. Sometimes I get the crust just right – and sometimes I get the filling perfect. Probably 1 in 20, I get both parts right at the same time. This wasn’t one of them. The crust was excellent, and the filling was runny… Oh, well, the squirrels liked the leftovers.
