Maryann Cassidy reports: There were a few DVOA’ers there. When I came off the exit from 295, I saw an RV pulling ito the Burger King (the TS) and it was Sandy, Eddie, Pete and Lex.They’re tired, but they look amazingly well. I think the nearness of the Finish is keeping them going. After a short wait, the van came over the bridge with the riders inside. The rider had to get off the bike and into the van to cross the bridge, and then re-mount at the Burger King. They pulled in, and had Greg on the bike and on his way in no time, Sandy got in the follow van and they were off too. We stayed and talked with Ken, Pete, Lex and Eddie until they left. While we were all talking, 3 more teams pulled in to the lot. There was a moment of high drama when the girl on the tandem bike (we’re not sure why there’s only one rider at time on the tandem now) went right instead of left out of the Burger King. We yelled to her, but I think she thought we were either kidding or just wishing her well! We then yelled to her crew who called the van in a panic and got her turned around. We also had a tour of the RV, with Ken’s bike being the main exhibit. It was great to see them. I cannot imagine doing what they have done and my hat is off to all them.
