This was a hibiscus from summer 2004. We are anxiously awaiting this year’s show. These flowers are the size of dinner plates. The original plants came from a neighbor, Danny Joe.

Adventure Race
I participated in my first adventure race with Brian K on June 18. It was held at Brandywine Creek State Park in Delaware. We started with a 2.5 mile trail run, then a 2 mile canoe, and about a 2 mile orienteering course. It was a beautiful day and we had fun. Canoing was the hardest part for me. The most frustrating part was a misplaced control. There were 17 teams and we beat 6 of them. Not too shabby for the chubbiest team.
Day Lillies – A glorious day!

Riding the T-rails

On Sunday, I went out my door (almost literally) to the W&OD bike trail for my longest ride since high school – 31 miles. The W&OD is along an old railroad bed. The trail is very urban here – lots of road crossings, and people biking, running, and walking.

Becky’s husband Ron is tackling the next step of the railing replacement.
Long time handy neighbor, Ed – who has just turned 90, is offering his assistance.
Ron and Ed are making progress. They have taken some breaks because of the heat. Update: project was finished 2 days later. After 20+ years, the railing is whole again!
